Abstract

This paper presents a research study developed in a Scientific Initiation Program (PIBIC) aiming to map resources used by field school teachers to teach statistical content and how they are used. Its theoretical framework comprised Statistical Education, Field Education and the Documental Approach of Didactics (DAD). The research was conducted with 17 teachers from six field schools based in three municipalities in the Agreste region of Pernambuco who answered a semi-structured interview. They mentioned the material resources: textbooks, media news and statistical graphics, videos, applications and digital platforms. The last three digital resources were predominant probably because 11 of the 17 teachers were interviewed during the Covid-19 pandemic when classes were remote. Among non-material resources, we identified resources such as language, statistical research and aspects of everyday life and students' realities. Five teachers were concerned about modifying the resources they had, such as textbook activities, to relate statistical content to the realities of their peasant students.
