Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the propensity of a group of university professors from a federal educational institution to develop burnout syndrome, as well as to look for factors associated with satisfaction/dissatisfaction at work and sociodemographic variables that can influence its occurrence. For this, questionnaires were applied to survey sociodemographic variables, a questionnaire called S20/23 was applied to assess job satisfaction and the MBI questionnaire was applied to assess the magnitude of burnout syndrome dimensions in the teachers. The results were obtained through descriptive statistical analysis and multiple linear regression using the OLS method. It was found that the professionals analyzed have low chances of developing the syndrome, since they presented low levels of depersonalization and high levels of professional achievement. However, the survey pointed to worrying levels of Emotional Exhaustion. Finally, although no statistically significant predictors were found for the occurrence of emotional exhaustion in the teachers, it was found that the levels of intrinsic satisfaction at work have an influence on the observed values of depersonalization and professional achievement, as well as the variables gender, marital status and skin color also impact the latter's levels.
