Abstract
This article proposes to analyze the evasion of young people before the actions of the school council and for this we conducted a case study in a school of the municipal network of Recife. The school board as an instrument of democratic management, is part of the collective of the educational institution, experiencing various situations, including the evasion of young people. This collegiate body is composed of members from all segments of the school, and its referrals are reflective of collective decisions. The study used the qualitative approach, the data collection were through routine observations and semi-structured interview with representatives of the collegiate and school community. The data obtained were analyzed through the content analysis of Bardin (2004). The result pointed out that the school board has its fragile functionality, because it lacks a greater engagement of its members, especially regarding collective decision-making, which aims to prioritize what is essential to the good progress of the school.
