História, arquivos e a tradição francesa no Brasil

Abstract

RESUMO Tomando como pressuposto, na esteira de Michel de Certeau, que pesquisar nos arquivos é fundamental para a escrita da História, analisa essa escrita na França e no Brasil, observando como o que foi pensado e feito naquele país europeu refletiu-se conceitualmente no nosso. Ao final, sugere retomar, como objeto de reflexão, “entre tantas vozes franco- brasileiras” que “enunciaram o vínculo entre a História, a memória e os arquivos”, a opinião do padre francês Rafael Bluteau, autor do Vocabulário português e latino, para quem o “índio que cantava era o arquivista da aldeia”. ABSTRACT Following down the path of Michel de Certeau, and assuming the premise that researching the archives is essential to the writing of history, this essay examines French and Brazilian writings, noting that what was done and perceived in that European nation was reflected of our own Brazilian identity. I finish by suggesting we reconsider, as the object of reflection “among many French-Brazilian voices” that “enunciated the link between history, memory and archives,” the opinion of the French priest Rafael Bluteau, author of “Portuguese and Latin vocabulary,” for whom the “Indian who sang was the archivist of the village.” KEYWORDS: History.
