Abstract

This article aims to investigate the power relations that constitute the discourse on public security present in the news “Governo do Tocantins anuncia concurso com mais de 320 vagas para Segurança Pública” (Feitosa, 2024), published on the virtual portal Jornal Opção Tocantins, on October 18, 2024. To this end, the renowned qualitative-interpretive method of Discourse Analysis is used, according to archaegenealogical guidance, focused on the heuristic description of the meanings present in the matter in focus. In this way, the operational notions of utterance, discursive formation and episteme are mobilized, from which the reading of the text designed for this purpose is verticalized. As a result of this investigation, it was verified, beyond the scope of the proposition outlined for this investigation, the internal constituents of the statement of the report in question, the alignment of the device, and the anchoring of the knowledge-power relations arranged in the object in a formation progressive discursive approach and a statist episteme.
