Abstract

This article addresses the ideology of pan-Arabism in a key stage of the consolidation of countries in the region: the Cold War and the Arab Cold War. We therefore analyzed the concept of hegemony and its application in the case of the United States or other international powers. We seeked to highlight the extent to which oil and gas are the main factors that sustain the importance of the Middle East, supported by commercial routes and straits, which represent a combination of economic and geostrategic interests. The paradigm for analyzing the conflict in Palestine was to consider it as a confrontation between two national movements. However, Israel runs an apartheid regime in Palestine, similar to the one in South Africa. Our objective, then, is to understand whether the relationship between the identity manifestations presented in this article occurred in a similar way to that of other countries in the region, or if the Zionist/Israeli movement fragmented the Palestinian territory and maintained an asymmetrical rivalry.
