Brief history of Postgraduate Studies in Brazil
Implications for a logic of productivity

The work describes the emergence of postgraduate studies in Brazil, as well as its developments in the logic of academic productivity. Thus, the objective of this work is to present a brief history of postgraduate studies in Brazil, discuss the evaluation criteria of CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) and analyze their meaning for the process of education and training of researchers in the national context. The research seeks to highlight that the history of postgraduate studies in Brazil is linked to historical and social changes in Brazilian society and education in general.
