Because discursive formation is one of the key notions in Discourse Analysis and having in its genesis an epistemological bifurcation, it deserves problematizations, outlines and drawings. Thus, here we take into account the foundation of the concept both by Michel Pêcheux and Michel Foucault, except for the similarities and differences that in the use by both was formulated. Therefore, our goal is to present the discursive formation as a concept with two founders, to ventilate the meanders by which this concept can be used to analyze discourses. To do so, we make a brief foray into descriptive and analytical work in the foundations of Discourse Analysis as a theoretical-practical field of the human sciences.
