O artigo tenta decifrar o significado do conceito de “sujeição”, quase sempre presente no discurso de trabalhadores rurais entrevistados, enquanto visão de mundo que expressa tanto situações dominantes. A luta contra a “sujeição” inscreve-se, assim, em áreas sertanejas do Nordeste, no processo de resistência à expropriação de camponeses que se sentem ameaçados por mudanças já em cursos ou previsíveis. The Backlands worker and "subjection" This article attempts to clarify the meaning of the concept of "subjection", which is nearly always present in the speech of rural wookers interviewed, embodying a world vision that expresses both concrete situations of explotation an subordination and a reinterpretation of the dominant ideology. The struggle against "subjection" is this incorporated, in the backlands of the Northeast, into the process of resistance to the expropriation of peasants who feel themselves threatened by changes either taking place already or foreseeable.
