Movimentos reivindicativos urbanos e poder local

Abstract

Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar o fenômeno do movimento reivindicativo urbano e sua relação com a problemática do poder local. A partir da discussão da literatura sobre a questão dos movimentos sociais, o autor procura mostrar as possíveis influências destes movimentos na arena política local e na relação entre os atores sociais presentes: aparelho burocrático-administrativo local, elite política e lideranças populares. This article attempts to analyze the phenomenon of the demands made by urban workers and the relation of these demands to the problem of local power. Beginning with a discussion of the literature on the question of social movements, the author tries to demonstrate the possible influences that these movements have on the local political arena and in the relation among social actors: the bureaucratic-administrative apparatus, the political elite and the popular leadership.
