Gilberto Freyre e o judaísmo: reflexões sobre o Pathos semítico no Judeu de Apipucos

RESUMO O presente artigo é uma síntese da conferência proferida no Seminário de Tropicologia, realizado em 22 de maio de 2012, na Academia Pernambucana de Letras. O texto analisa a forma como os judeus e o judaísmo são abordados por Gilberto Freyre. A exposição destaca a herança judaica na população e na cultura nordestina, bem como o reflexo dessa herança semita na obra freyreana e a acusação de antissemitismo lançada contra o antropólogo de Apipucos. Evoca recentes estudos genéticos que comprovam a presença judaica na população luso-nordestina e na própria família Freyre. O estudo destaca a importância étnica dos cristãosnovos (de origem judaica) na formação do povo e da cultura do Nordeste brasileiro, tal como apresentado na Teoria do Nordeste Semita. GILBERTO FREYRE AND THE JUDAISM: REFLECTIONS ON THE PATHOS SEMITIC IN THE JEW OF APIPUCOS ABSTRACT This article is a summary of the lecture in Seminar Tropicology held on May 22, 2012, in Pernambuco Academy of Arts. The text looks at how Jews and Judaism are covered by Gilberto Freyre. The exhibition highlights the Jewish heritage and culture in the population of the Northeast, as well as the reflection of this heritage in the work of Freyre and anti-Semitism accusation launched against the anthropologist of Apipucos. Evokes recent genetic studies that show a Jewish presence in the population in the Luso-Northeast and Freyre’s family. The study highlights the importance of ethnic New Christians (of Jewish origin) in the people and culture of the Brazilian Northeast, as presented in the Theory of the Northeast Semitic.
