Abstract

Between December 2018 and June 2019 phlebotomine sandflies were collected in Parque do Sabiá complex, Uberlândia municipality, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, using CDC traps. The objective was to associate the sandfly species captured to the risk of the transmission of leishmaniasis in the municipality. The 47 captured specimens belonging to six species of phlebotomine, among which Lutzomyia (Nyssomyia) whitmani (ANTUNES, COUTINHO, 1939) with 18 especimens (38,3%), Lutzomyia sp.  with 13 (27,5) especimens, Brumptomyia brumpti (PINTO, 1926) with six espécimes (12,7%), Lutzomyia (Psathyromyia)lutziana (Costa, 1932) with three especimens (6,3%), Brumptomyia sp.a  with three especimens (6,3%), Lutzomyia cortelezzii (BRÈTHES, 1923) with one especime (2,1%), Lutzomyia (Psychodopygus) davisi (ROOT, 1934) with one especime (2,1%), Lutzomyia mamedei (OLIVEIRA; AFONSO; DIAS; BRASIL, 1994) com one espécime (2,1%), Lutzomiya neivai (PINTO, 1926) com one espécime. The collection of species that may be involved in the transmission of Leishmania reveals the need for continuous entomological surveillance.
