O mundo rural no limiar do novo milênio

Resumo

Este ensaio analisa as transformações que ocorrem no mundo rural frente às revoluções na ciência e na tecnologia e frente ao novo movimento do capital, no momento em que este busca mundializar a cultura e as relações sociais de produção. Debate as contradições presentes nesta investida do capital, mas vê, também, neste processo, uma possibilidade de inserção digna de todos na modernidade, desde que os trabalhadores do campo sejam apoiados por políticas públicas. Discute a relação urbano/rural no mundo atual, colocando esta problemática inserida na modernidade. Debate os problemas sociais causados no Brasil e no mundo neste novo e excludente mundo rural. Palavras-chave: modernidade, campo/cidade, ciência e tecnologia This article analyses the transformations taking place in the rural world as a result of scientific and technological revolutions and of the new capital movement, in its attempt to globalize culture and the social production relations. It debates about the contradictions in this advance of the capital, while envisaging, in the process, the possibility of a dignified inclusion of everyone in modernity, as long as the rural workers are supported by public policies. It discusses the urban-rural relationship in the present-day world as an issue related to modernity. It debates about the social problems that have arisen in this new and excluding rural world, in Brazil and in the world. Key words: modernity, city/countryside, science and technology
