ABSTRACT Social research:burocratization and autocriticism. v. 12, n. 2, p. 225-240, jul./dez. 1984. Objecting to get back some aspects of the criticisms formulated, starting in the fifty years to the practice of the social research, mainly those ones by Sorokin and Wright Mills, the effects of the burocratization of the research are analysed in consequence of its increasing acceptance in the market, in what is referred to the tendence and to the prevalence of the quantitative style of research in the form of the so called “abstract empirism” of Wright MilIs’ criticism. Relating supervalorization of the Statistics in the social research with an economicist tendence in the Sociology, it is confirmed a misleadingness in the original objectives of this science, in the sense that it would be, loozing in the practice the perspective of the whole which traditionally characterizes it. The dissociation of the Philosophy, particularly of the Epistemology, would be origined in the absence of autocriticism spirit in the practice of the contemporaneous social research, concluding that it is under the wing of the social researcher to have a critical consciousness of the suppositions of the knowledge theory which prevails in the up to date Social Science in order not to fall in the ingenuous cult of the induction as an absolute criterion of validity of the scientifical knowledge. RÉSUMÉ Recherche sociale: burocratisation et auto-critique. v. 12, n. 2, p. 225-240, jul./dez. 1984.
